Grounding and Protection

🌍 Grounding: The Medicine Beneath Our Feet

We all know that grounding helps us feel steady, calm, and present. But sometimes we forget the miraculous simplicity of what’s happening when our feet actually touch the earth. Your body isn’t just metaphorically connecting when you stand barefoot on grass, sand, or soil — there is a physical, electrical exchange taking place. The Earth carries a natural, gentle negative charge. When you place your feet upon her, your body discharges excess static, emotional clutter, and energetic debris, and in return absorbs stabilising free electrons that restore balance to your nervous system.

Science has even caught up with what many of us intuitively know: “earthing” (the modern term for walking barefoot on natural ground) can lower inflammation, regulate cortisol, and support deeper sleep. From a spiritual lens, it also roots your energy body back into your physical vessel, ensuring you’re not drifting or fragmenting in different directions.

Think of it like planting yourself the way a tree does — roots reaching down, branches reaching up. You’re both anchored and expansive. Try this simple shift the next time you ground: instead of just imagining roots, consciously feel the soles of your feet soften into the earth, even through your shoes if barefoot isn’t possible. Notice the tingling or subtle pulse. That’s your body recalibrating with the planet’s rhythm.

If you’ve been feeling scattered, anxious, or even disconnected from your body, grounding isn’t just a practice — it’s medicine. You don’t need long rituals, either. Two minutes of mindful contact with the earth, breathing slowly while sending gratitude down into her, can be enough to reset your whole field. Next time you’re outside, pause and let the ground beneath you hold some of your weight. Whisper a thank you. Allow yourself to receive.

The earth has been holding us since the moment we arrived here. Grounding is our way of remembering that we are never separate — we are supported, always.

Protection: Energy Maintenance as Self-Care

We often think of protection as something we only need when going somewhere “heavy” — perhaps a hospital, a crowd, or a difficult family gathering. But in truth, energetic protection is a form of daily self-care, just as important as brushing your teeth or drinking water. Everywhere you go, both online and in person, you are swimming in fields of energy. Every conversation, every scroll through social media, every exchange at the shop leaves little imprints on your field. Some of them are nourishing, but others can feel sticky, draining, or intrusive if left unfiltered.

Think of your energy field like a beautiful home. Would you leave the doors wide open all day without tending to what blows in? Probably not. Protection isn’t about fear or building walls; it’s about choosing what belongs in your sacred space and what doesn’t.

A simple practice is to begin each morning by sealing your aura. Imagine a golden or iridescent light gently surrounding your body, flexible like silk but strong like woven metal threads. Set the intention: “Only energies aligned with my highest good may enter.” This isn’t rigid armour — it’s a loving filter that allows light, kindness, and inspiration through while bouncing off what doesn’t serve.

And don’t forget the online world. When we scroll, we unconsciously “plug in” to thousands of collective streams of thought and feeling. Before you open your apps, pause. Place a hand on your heart and breathe, affirming: I choose not to absorb energy that isn’t mine. After being online, shake your hands out, splash water over your wrists, or visualise cords detaching from your devices. It only takes moments but helps keep your field clear.

Protection is maintenance. Just as you would cleanse your skin at the end of the day, cleanse your energy. A shower with the intention of washing away what isn’t yours, a candle flame held in front of your heart, or even laughter that lightens the field — all of these act as resets.

The more you honour this as self-care rather than a chore, the more natural it becomes. You’ll begin to notice how much lighter, clearer, and authentically you you feel. And from that space, your natural radiance is easier to share with the world.
